Delhi: People in Delhi continued to get relief from the searing heat as the city received rainfall and thunderstorm on early Monday morning – resulting in bringing down the minimum temperature to 18 degrees Celsius in the national capital.

Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were affected due to the bad weather. The airport authorities have requested the passengers to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.

“Due to bad weather, flight operations at Delhi airport are affected. Passengers are requested to get in touch with the airline concerned for updated flight information,” Delhi Airport tweeted.

Trees were uprooted in some areas of the capital city due to the impact of strong winds, which resulted in roads getting blocked. Traffic snarls were also reported in various parts of the city, including ITO, DND, and near AIIMS.

According to a media report, at least 19 flights so far, have been diverted to Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, Amritsar, and Mumbai.

The weather department has said that this was the first moderate-intensity storm of this season. “Normally between March and May thunderstorms occur for 12 to 14 days. But this season saw only four to five thunderstorms and that too mostly dry ones,” the department said.
