New Delhi: The Delhi government issued a new advisory to schools on Friday, April 15, 2022.

The government directed schools to close the premises or certain departments temporarily if any teacher or student tests positive for coronavirus.

They issued guidelines after a few staff members and students of a well-known private school tested positive for the virus, thereby triggering concerns among the parents regarding the safety of their wards.

The Directorate of Education should be immediately informed if a Covid-19 case appears to the school authorities. The concerned wings or the entire school should be closed after the detection.

Meanwhile, students, teachers, and other staff members must wear face masks and practice social distancing. The government also advised schools to apprise students, parents, and other supporting staff about regular washing of hands and the use of sanitizers.

Schools in adjoining Noida and Ghaziabad districts also reported new cases within premises. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and minister Manish Sisodia assured the monitoring of the situation and told people to avoid panicking since there is no rise in hospitalization.

“The Covid-19 pandemic will never go, but the hysteria around it will end. It will be reduced to an endemic like influenza and the seasonal flu in the coming years. The government’s decision to make mask-wearing optional in public places is the reason behind the current spike in coronavirus cases,” Shubhi Soni, head of Shri Ram Wonder Years school, Rohini, said.
