• COVIRAP is a healthcare product developed and commercialized by IIT, Kharagpur.
• It is diagnostic technology not only to detect COVID-19 but other vector borne diseases like influenza, malaria, TB, Japanese Encephalitis etc
• COVIRAP is quite affordable as testing cost is just Rs. 500.
• Secondly this device will minimise the requirement of RT-PCR instrument for testing.
• COVIRAP is comparative quick analytical testing technology as it gives result in just one hour which will scale up the screening of COVID-19 in rural areas.
• COVIRAP machines can be developed at a cost of less than 10,000 Rs.
• Once ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) will validate the COVIRAP than it will be launched for commercialization.
