New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday morning updated the Covid-19 data and informed that “India recorded 38,353 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours which took the total caseload in the country to the grim milestone of 32,036,511.”
The death toll in the country also rose to 429,279 after 497 people succumbed to the deadly pathogen during the last 24 hours.
The active coronavirus cases in the country slipped down to 3.86 lakh, which is the lowest active caseload recorded in the country in the last 140 days.
The Health Ministry of India reported around 28000 cases on Monday and reported a hike of around 10000 cases on Tuesday.
India’s cumulative COVID vaccination coverage has reached nearly 52 crores now. The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that “more than 40 crore vaccine doses were administered as first dose and over 11 crore vaccine doses given as second doses so far. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from June 21 this year.”
The Ministry said, “more than 37 lakh 76 thousand vaccine doses were administered on August 10. Over 20 lakh 47 thousand vaccine doses were administered as the first dose and more than four lakh vaccine doses were given as the second dose in the age group 18 to 44 years. Cumulatively, over 18 crores 20 lakh persons in the age group 18 to 44 years across 37 States and Union Territories have received their first dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.”
