Ahmedabad: The state assembly on Monday informed that the Gujarat government has acquired 99.3 percent of land in five districts for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor, popularly known as the bullet train project.

Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi said 358.31 hectares of land had been obtained out of 360.73 hectares required for the project in the five districts in response to highlighted questions.

In June 2018 PM Narendra Modi announced this project.

In response to starred questions about the project’s land acquisition status, the Gujarat government said that compensation totaling 2935.85 crores has been paid in five of the eight districts through which the bullet train will pass.
Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Kheda, Anand, and Navsari are the districts for which the state government has provided information, while Surat, Bharuch, and Valsad are the other three districts in the corridor.

Vadodara tops the list with 103.94-hectare land acquired, out of 105.46 hectares required for the project, while the least land required is in Ahmedabad at 27.15 hectares, out of which acquisition of 26.43 hectares is complete.
