New Delhi, April 1: LeBron James, 40, widely regarded as the King of Basketball, said on Sunday he is retiring soon.

After dropping 40 points against the Brooklyn Nets, he made this announcement, although he is still playing high.

In the post-game interview with Jovan Buha, James revealed that his time for leaving the National Basketball Association (NBA) is coming.

“Not very long…I’m not going to play another 21 years, that’s damn sure. I don’t know when the door will close when I retire. But I don’t have much time left.”

Time and again, James said he has achieved every goal he could in his NBA career. He has played for 21 years after he joined the NBA’s 2003-2004 season.

He has played for three NBA teams—the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles. He won four NBA championships, in 2012,2013,2016 and 2020, and the NBA Cup with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023.

Individually, LeBron James is the all-time leading scorer in NBA history, has won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, three all-star game MVP awards, and was selected to the All-NBA team 19 times.

Due to his longevity, LeBron James is still playing at the highest level in the Los Angeles Lakers. He is currently the oldest player in the NBA.
