Swimming: Archie Goodburn diagnosed with inoperable brain tumours
New Delhi, June 28: Scottish swimmer Archie Goodburn has been diagnosed with inoperable brain tumours, the media reported on Friday.
“Six weeks ago, my life experienced a profound change as I was diagnosed with three brain tumours,” he wrote on Instagram.
A test conducted after the 2024 Olympic trials in the UK found Archie has three large oligodendrogliomas—a type of cancer that affects the brain and spinal cord.
The swimmer said he hopes radiotherapy and chemotherapy will combat the tumours. Archie,23, represented Scotland at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and won a bronze in the men’s 50m breaststroke at the 2019 World Junior Championship held in Hungary.
