New Delhi: A 25-member Bangladesh team started its four-day visit to Meghalaya on Monday as part of the Government of India’s Golden Jubilee of Liberation War (1971) and the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The delegation comprises 18 liberation fighters (Muktijoddhas) who were trained in Meghalaya and fought in Sector 11 during the Liberation War. The group also includes Bangladeshis from several fields, including the media.

They will meet the State’s Governor and the Chief Minister, and top officials from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and the Border Security Force, who helped train the warriors and fought alongside them in their struggle for freedom.

The Bangladesh delegation’s visit coincides with India’s commemoration of its brave hearts as part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh festivities and Bangladesh’s 50th anniversary of independence.
