Indian Wells Masters 2022: Andy Murray defeats Taro Daniel 2-1
New Delhi: British tennis player, Andy Murray, defeated Japanese player Taro Daniel 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 and claimed the 700th ATP tour victory at the Indian Wells Masters 2022 in California, United States, on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
It was his second win out of three matches against Daniel this year.
Daniel raced through the opening set in 28 minutes as the three-time Grand Slam champion managed four points on his serve. Murray passed two breakpoints to the opponent, who converted the opportunity and won the set 6-1.
Murray aggressively charged on Daniel in the next set. He led 5-0 before Daniel held a serve and won two points. Meanwhile, Murray broke Daniel’s serve and won the next set 6-2.
Though Daniel was leading the decider, Murray fought back and equalized scores 3-3.
Murray made long rallies and held Daniel’s serve at 5-4 to win his third match point. Murray won the final set 6-4.
Andy Murray is one of the four active players after Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic to have won 700 tour matches in their career.
Murray will face Kazakistan player Alexander Bublik in a round of 64 on Monday, March 14, 2022.
