Virat Kohli will not be the RCB captain in IPL-2022: Daniel Vettori
New Delhi: IPL 2022: Royal Challengers Bangalore is the only club yet to name a captain for the 10-team tournament, which starts on March 26. Kohli stepped down from the post at the end of the previous season in the United Arab Emirates.
With less than three weeks till the start of the Indian Premier League 2022 season, all eyes are on Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are the only team yet to choose a captain. RCB has remained tight-lipped despite new teams Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans announcing their captains days before the auction.
Speculation is strong that either Glenn Maxwell or Faf du Plessis may be considered for the post that Virat Kohli resigned after the completion of the IPL 2021 season. Fans, on the other hand, haven’t given up hope of seeing Kohli return as captain.
The celebrated India batter stressed the need to have some space and manage his workload better when he quit as RCB captain. Speaking to the franchise last month, Kohli maintained that there was nothing to be surprised about his decision and that he was clear in his mind that he wanted to move on.
Kohli not only stepped down as T20I captain but he was also ousted as ODI captain before stepping down as Test captain, indicating that a lot has changed since last year’s T20 World Cup.
