Bollywood: Madhuri Dixit’s debut on the OTT platform with the deceptive mystery -The Fame Game.
Ahmedabad: THE FAME GAME tells a tale of a movie star who vanishes. Madhuri Dixit’s Anamika Anand is one of Bollywood’s most well-known actresses. She seemed to be the queen of the silver screen. Now in her forties, her star has dwindled as the younger generation of actresses has gained notoriety. She is now the mother of Amara (Muskkaan Jaferi) and Avinash called Avi (Lakshvir Singh Saran) and she is married to Nikhil More (Sanjay Khanna). Anamika’s mother (Suhasini Mulay) and a maid, Lata (Shubhangi Latkar), also live with her in her opulent home. Anamika’s mother has always been in charge of her every step. She was the one who persuaded Anamika to pursue a career as an actress because her mother realized that if Anamika became a movie star, she would be able to support herself.
Despite Anamika’s desires, her mother marries her to Nikhil, who is her long-lost cousin. In the present, Nikhil is in charge of her funds, and the two of them plan to make a film with Anamika in the lead role. Ajay (Indraneil Sengupta) has been cast alongside Anamika. She soon discovers, however, that they don’t have the same chemistry. She wishes to replace Ajay with Manish Khanna (Manav Kaul). Their couple was once the most popular. They also dated for a short time about 20 years ago. Manish is a recluse who agrees to sign the film when Anamika and Nikhil ask him to. As they re-establish themselves professionally, their love for each other blossoms once more. Anamika, on the other hand, is dealing with difficulty at home.
Nikhil and her mother have messed up the finances, she knows. Avi and Amara are both battling with personal issues. Avi even tries to commit suicide. Anamika attends an award show one day. She mysteriously vanishes after returning home. None of her family members has any idea where she’s gone.
The case is assigned to ACP Shobha Trivedi (Rajshri Deshpande). During interrogation, they all provide key details about Anamika’s disappearance. They all keep it hidden, though, for their reasons. Meanwhile, fans and the media go crazy, wondering if Anamika has been kidnapped or if something worse has happened to her. The rest of the series is built around what happens next.
Sri Rao’s plot is captivating, with plenty of mystery, suspense, thrill, and drama. In the beginning, Sri Rao’s screenplay is a little extended and slow. The author takes a long time to create the conflicts and relationships between the many characters. As the suspense and surprising moments are revealed, the proceedings become significantly more exciting.
Though the tale bounces back and forth, Bejoy Nambiar and Karishma Kohli’s direction is tidy and simple. This type of story works because viewers gradually learn about Anamika’s troubles while also learning about what happened after she vanished. The series takes on several critical themes, all of which are handled with care by the creators. There’s no point in titillating for the sake of titillation. The last two episodes are the longest and most exciting, as there is a lot that happens in the last 100 minutes.
Manav Kaul is excellent in the role, and his chemistry with Madhuri is captivating. Sanjay Kapoor exudes élan in his portrayal of his character. Muskkaan Jaferi is the show’s biggest surprise and delivers an outstanding performance. Lakshvir Singh Saran uses his eyes to communicate a lot and puts on a good show. His delivery of dialogue is fantastic. As a scary fan, Gagan Arora (Madhav) is fantastic. Thanks to his performance, the way he manipulates a character into falling in love with him appears to be quite convincing. Rajshri Deshpande leaves a lasting impression. Suhasini Mulay is too wonderful, and it’s impossible not to despise her whenever she attempts to impose her will on the household. Shubhangi Latkar’s role is limited. Makarand Deshpande (Harilal) is a talented actor.
THE FAME GAME begins on an uninteresting note, and a few plot twists are difficult to swallow. The series, on the other hand, improves with each episode and concludes with a startling revelation. The effect is further enhanced by Madhuri Dixit’s excellent performance.
