Covid-19: India reports 12,428 new cases, lowest one-day rise in 238 days

New Delhi: The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Tuesday informed that the 12,428 new cases of coronavirus registered in the last 24 hours, India sees lowest one-day rise in 238 days.

The current active caseload of the country is now 163,816 which is the lowest in 241 days. Active cases in the country now account for less than one percent of the total cases, and it currently stands at 0.48 percent.

According to the information provided by the Union Health Ministry, the daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 31 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 120 consecutive days now. There were 356 coronavirus-related deaths and 15,951 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

Kerala, however, continues to stay the worst-affected as the southern state saw 6,664 new infections and 53 deaths. Over 11 lakh tests were conducted on Monday, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far in the country to 601,901,543. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.10 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was at 1.24 percent.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has stated that over 107.22 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs so far.
