Covid-19: South Goa administration extends curfew till august 9

Panaji: The South Goa administration has extended the Covid-19 restriction till August 9 to prevent the spread of the virus in the state. In its latest order, the administration barred the operation of casinos, auditoriums, cinema halls, spa and massage parlors, river cruises, and water parks till August 9.

The public gathering could aggravate the COVID-19 situation in the state as well as in the country.

According to the South Goa district administration order, the Gathering of more than five people in public places will not be allowed. Social, political, sports, entertainment, cultural events, except for those with 100 people in attendance are prohibited. Schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions for students are advised to remain closed.

People who are fully vaccinated at least 14 days before the date of entry and have been found asymptomatic can enter Goa. Persons entering the state for medical emergencies will be allowed.

Goa government will allow People entering the state for business or employment, Residents of Goa who were stranded outside due to the pandemic, and Residents of Goa who had to travel outside for work/ medical reasons.

The order also urged non-government organizations to promote work-from-home culture and strict adherence to COVID-19-appropriate behavior. The health department of Goa on Sunday reported 59 new COVID-19 cases, 105 recoveries, and one death. Currently, there are 1011 active cases of COVID-19 in the state.
