Srinagar: Samba Superintendents of police (SSP) Rajesh Sharma on Monday informed that suspected drone activity was reported at four places in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night.

According to the media report, this is the third instance in the past 56 hours when drones have been spotted at various places across Jammu and Kashmir.

Local residents informed the nearest police stations after they saw lights blinking in the sky. After receiving the information from the local residents the security forces swung into action.

Most recently, one drone was shot down by the security forces in the Kalachuck area of the UT. The security forces are on high alert and the search operations are currently underway.

The vigilance across the Kashmir valley as well as the Jammu region was stepped up after a drone attack at the Indian Air Force (IAF) station Jammu in June.

The latest drone movements come ahead of August 15 independence day celebrations and on the occasion of the second anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

A few days back – two ‘Made in China’ drones dropped RDX and Nitrate at the IAF Jammu station causing minor injuries to two IAF personnel.

The security agencies have also established anti-drone systems at the IAF station and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the case which has been categorized as a ‘terror attack’ by the security agencies.
