New Delhi: Indian female hockey player Vandana Kataria becomes the woman of the country who scored a hat-trick at the Olympics. The Indian female hockey team defeated South Africa by 4-3 in the pool match on Saturday. India’s quarter-finals hopes remain alive because of Vandana’s magnificent performance during the India vs South Africa match.

In the must-win game for India, South Africa gave Rani Rampal and Company a tough competition, but Indian forward Vandana Kataria’s promptness and erudite skills took the match away from the South African team. She also registered her name in the Indian record books with the hat-trick.

After a rough start at the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian women’s hockey team’s two crucial wins gave their fans a sigh of relief.

However, India’s quarter-finals hopes are now dependent on the Great Britain Vs Ireland match. According to the points table, India can go ahead in the tournament only if Ireland either loses or play out a draw against Great Britain.
