Srinagar: The Indian Security Forces eliminated one of the oldest surviving Hizbul Mujahideen Commander in an encounter. The terrorist outfit’s commander Mehraj ud Din alias Ubaid was gunned down by the forces in a gunfight at Pazipora area of Kralgund in North Kashmir’s Handwara.

According to the information given by the IGP of Kashmir, “Mehraj ud Din alias Ubaid was involved in several terror crimes and the killing of the terrorist was a big success for the forces.”

The successful operation was carried out by a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army’s 32 Rashtriya Rifles, and 92 battalion of CRPF in the Kralgund area of Handwara.

A few days back, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla reviewed the security situation in Jammu Kashmir with Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh, ADG Jammu Mukesh Singh, IB chief Arvind Kumar, DG CRPF Kuldeep Singh, and DG CISF Sudhir Kumar.

According to a media report, senior police officials from Jammu Kashmir informed the home secretary about the state’s security arrangements, especially in border areas after the drone attack.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) had informed that two low-intensity explosions were reported on June 27 in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. One caused minor damage to the roof of a building while the other exploded in an open area.
