189 Al Qaeda terrorists killed by peacekeeping force in Somalia: Ugandan Army
New Delhi: The Ugandan peacekeeping army in Somalia on Saturday killed 189 al Shabaab group terrorists. The Ugandan army attacked on one of their camps.
Ugandan troops are part of the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia and working with the central government to stop the terrorist activities in Africa.
Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen, HSM; more commonly known as al-Shabaab, is a terrorist, jihadist fundamentalist group based in East Africa.
The Ugandan People’s Defence Force (UPDF) said in a statement that “its soldiers on Friday had raided al Shabaab hideouts in the villages of Sigaale, Adimole and Kayitoy, just over 100 km (62 miles) southwest of the capital Mogadishu.”
Al Shabaab terrorists group is always trying to disturb the government of Somalia and forcing people to follow Islamic laws since 2011. Al Shabaab also conducts attacks in neighboring countries, notably Kenya.
The Al Shabaab group was driven out of Mogadishu by African Union troops.
On 28th December, 2019 Al Shabaab bombed a checkpoint near Mogadishu leaving 85 people dead which included Somalian forces as well as Turkish engineers.
