Will Smith makes first appearance in India after the Oscars incident
Mumbai: Hollywood actor Will Smith made his first appearance in India on Saturday, April 23, 2022, after the controversial incident at the Oscars.
Smith stayed at the JW Marriott Hotel, Juhu, Mumbai, and left Mumbai on Saturday. Smith has an old relationship with India, with the actor visiting the Southeast Asian country on several occasions for spiritual and vacationing reasons.
Smith was spotted interacting with a spiritual person at Mumbai airport on Saturday. He reportedly visited the Ganga aarti in Varanasi and met spiritual leader Sadguru for his video series.
Will made his first public appearance following the Oscar slap controversy. The Oscars came to a brief standstill on March 27, 2022, when Smith struck the presenter for taking a dig at his wife.
A few minutes later, Will was awarded the Best Actor for his role in film King Richard.
However, the Men-In-Black actor issued a public apology to Chris Rock the next day. In a penned letter on Instagram, Smith wrote, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear, and I reacted emotionally.”
