Kanpur: The UP CMO’s official Twitter account was hacked in the early hours of Saturday, April 9. After almost 4 hours, the account was partially restored and the tweets posted by the hackers after taking over the account were removed. The hackers had also removed the Chief Minister’s display picture from the Twitter handle.
After the investigation of the case by cyber experts, the strictest action will be taken against those responsible, the UP government said in a tweet.
Screenshots of the hacked CMO account are doing rounds on social media. Notably, hackers also changed the profile picture and of the account. The hackers pinned a tweet, “Tutorial: How to Turn on your BAYC/MAYC animated on Twitter,” on UP CMO’s Twitter handle and used a cartoonist image as a profile picture.
Meanwhile, the government of Uttar Pradesh has assured that “strictest action” will be taken against those who are responsible for the hacking of UP CMO’s Twitter handle. “An attempt was made to hack the official Twitter account UP Chief Minister Office (@CMOfficeUP) last night by anti-social elements.
