Tribal Artists from eight states performed in National tribal dance festival 2023

New Delhi, March 15: The tribal cultural and folk artists from eight different states from all over the country showed their unique, vibrant, and traditional dances at the national tribal dance festival 2023 in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The national dance festival is held to honour the diverse tribal communities and their rich folk cultures. This year the festival was organized by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI), Bhubaneswar, with the support and guidance of the Ministry Of Tribal Affairs.

The dance festival is being organized at the Adivasi Exhibition ground in Bhubaneswar, starting on Monday, March 13.

The different artists who participated in the festival on the first day of the event were from eight different states, including Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, Jharkhand, and Gujarat. Said Indramani Tripathy, the director of the SC-ST Research and Training Institute in Bhubaneswar.
On the remaining days of the festival, in which 17 Indian tribes from 12 different states will perform a total of 25 ethical and folk dance forms in the event.

The first edition of the national tribal dance festival was organized in 2019 with an aim to celebrate the cultural diversity among the tribal people, to unite the tribal community, and to provide an opportunity to educate and showcase the rich cultures within them. Whereas the second edition of the dance festival was celebrated in the year 2021, where dancers came from across the country and union territories took part in it.

Last year, the third edition of the national tribal dance festival was organized in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on its 23rd state foundation day, which was November 1st and the festival was continued from November 1st to 3rd, 2022, where over 1500 tribal dancers came from all over the country, including other countries such as Mozambique, Mongolia, Serbia, New Zealand, Egypt, Tonga, Indonesia, and Russia.
