New Delhi, March 15: The central government has approved the vibrant village program for the villages that are located near the line of actual control (LAC).

In an answer to a certain question, minister of state for home affairs Nitish Paramanik talked about the inclusion of the villages near the line of actual control (LAC) in the vibrant village program in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

As per the statement of Nitish Paramanik, there were a total of 662 villages near the LAC, including 46 border blocks of 19 districts and one union territory, which are mostly covered by the states and located in the northern border states of Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh (UT).

In the beginning, 266 villages that were identified for inclusion in the “vibrant village program” were part of the five different states: 45 villages in Arunachal Pradesh, 35 villages in Ladakh, 75 in Himachal Pradesh, 46 in Sikkim, and 51 villages in Uttarakhand.

Under this program, the authority will mainly focus on identified areas in which they will work on economic growth, road connectivity, housing and village infrastructure, energy, including renewable energy through solar and wind power, television and telecom connectivity, including the setting up of an IT-enabled common service center in the village, regeneration of the ecosystem, promotion of tourism and culture, financial inclusion, skill development, and entrepreneurship, and the development of cooperative societies for managing livelihood opportunities including agriculture and horticulture, cultivation of medicinal plants and herbs, etc.

The original aim to create the vibrant villages program was to enhance the existing central and state government schemes through the development of the district governance plan. It focuses on the comprehensive development of the villages and areas that are underdeveloped.
