The Mughal Garden to open for Public on February 12
New Delhi: The Rashtrapati Bhavan will open the Mughal Garden for the general public from Saturday, February 12, 2022.
The people can visit and watch the much-awaited annual event of the National Capital, Udyanotsav, from February 12 till March 16, 2022.
The garden will showcase eleven varieties of tulips in six colours, 138 different roses, over 20 kinds of creepers, and 70 seasonal plants this year.
Horticulture Consultant of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, P.N. Joshi, said, “There are 10,000 bulbs of tulips of 11 varieties in six colours. These come from the Netherlands. We have stocks in blue, white, and pink from Japan. We also have Inca Marigold from Germany, but we get these from local vendors.”
Apart from these, the Central lawns showcase an array of flower carpets on display. The huge carpets will be available in magnificent designs. Ornamental flowers are also displayed. The dominant colour scheme for the flowers is white, yellow, red, and orange in 2022.
The geometrically- patterned garden sprawls across 15 acres and will withhold a landscaped cactus corner. It will be replete with air-purifying plants. Other attractions within the Mughal Gardens include the long garden, circular garden, musical garden, and herbal garden with over 100 varieties of shrubs.
Visitors need to make online bookings in advance to visit the event. One can visit the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website and register for a booking. Like the previous year, walk-in entries will remain prohibited as a precautionary measure due to the pandemic this year.
According to officials, the garden will remain shut for the public on Mondays due to maintenance. It will remain open to visitors from 10 am to 5 pm.
President Ram Nath Kovind had inaugurated the annual Udyanotsav at the Mughal Gardens on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
