The Broken News becomes the Most Viewed Original Series 2022 on ZEE5
Mumbai: Popular web series The Broken News became the most viewed original series 2022 and is available to stream on India’s largest home-grown video streaming platform, ZEE5.
The series that premiered on June 10, 2022, not only marked Sonali Bendre’s return to acting that too an OTT debut, but also marked the first collaboration between ZEE5 and BBC India.
Helmed by Vinay Waikul, the series clocked 10 million plus streaming minutes and six million plus views in a week since its premiere. The eight-part series is centered on a pair of rival TV news channels who operate from the same building yet represent two opposing philosophies of journalism.
The series provides a glimpse into behind-the-scenes of a typical newsroom and how stories are delivered. It even addresses difficult questions and reflects contemporary realities that operate in the world’s largest democratic nation.
Talking about the achievement, actor Sonali Bendre shared, “I am overwhelmed with all the love we have received for The Broken News. The fact that our content stirred conversation around the key theme is a sign of connect it has made with the audience, which to me is the most important part.”

The series is exclusively available to stream on ZEE5 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada languages.
