Tennis: Aslan Karatsev Defeated Andy Murray 2-0 in the Sidney Classic 2022 Finals
New Delhi: Russian tennis player Aslan Karatsev defeated British player Andy Murray in two straight sets 2-0 of the Sydney Classic 2022 Finals at the Ken Rosewall Arena, Sydney, on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Karatsev opened the set with a service and gained a 2-0 lead. Murray immediately scored a point, followed by a point from Karatsev. Though Murray’s first serve gained him 2 points, Karatsev played a perfect set as he smashed into just 4 unforced errors. Karatsev won the intriguing first set 6-3.
The last set began with Karatsev cruising to a 2-point lead against Murry, who won a game in white and tried to equalise scores. However, the Russian incessantly attacked and won 2 more serve points. Murry managed to dodge Karatsev’s advances by scoring aces. Karatsev received 5 breakpoints and a double fault. Though Murry displayed some of the best moves of the season, he lost the set 6-3 and the match to Karatsev 6-3, 6-3.
