Temblor: Tremor measuring 3.8 on Richter scale strikes Manipur
New Delhi: An earthquake with an intensity of 3.8 on the Richter scale struck the northeastern state of Manipur around 9:50 am on Tuesday.
They reported no loss of life or property so far.
The citizens rushed out of their homes and offices as the tectonic plates rubbed against each other, causing the tremor.
The National Centre of Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph of the region and tweeted, “An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 occurred on November 09, 2021, at 09:47 am IST on latitude 25.45, longitude 94.93, and depth of 60ms above sea level, located 62kms Northeast (NE) of Shirui, Manipur, India.”
It is the second earthquake in Manipur in two days after a 4.4 intensity temblor struck the state on Monday. “An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred on November 08, 2021, at 07:48 am IST with latitude 24.66, longitude 94.95, and depth of 70kms located 56kms East-Southeast of Ukhrul, Manipur, India,” NCS tweeted.
The neighboring country, Myanmar, also experienced a 4.5 magnitude temblor on Monday and a 3.8 magnitude earthquake near Hkamti district, 49 km southeast of Phek, India, around 10:47 am on Tuesday.
