Russia’s financial monitoring agency adds FB owner Meta to ‘extremists’ list!
New Delhi: Social media giant Meta, which owns platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, is now an ‘extremist’ organization in Russia!
Meta Platforms, Inc., doing business as Meta and formerly named Facebook, Inc., and The Facebook, Inc., is an American multinational technology conglomerate based in Menlo Park, California. The company owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, among other products and services, the media said.
With the US leading the anti-Russian front on the Ukraine war, Moscow’s financial monitoring agency, Rosfinmonitoring has added the US tech giant to its list of ‘terrorists and extremists,’ the Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday.
In June, a Moscow court rejected an appeal by Meta after they found it guilty of “extremist activity” in Russia in March. Meta’s lawyer had said the conglomerate was not carrying out the extremist activity and was against Russophobia.
