Bhubaneswar [Odisha]: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate an event marking the delivery of the 2,000th aero-engine by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Koraput Division, Odisha, on Tuesday, along with the establishment of a second production line for Shakti engines with an investment of ₹218 crore.
The additional production capacity will support the growing requirements of indigenous helicopter platforms, including the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter and Prachand Light Combat Helicopter, a press release by the Ministry of Defence said.
The milestone marks nearly six decades of HAL Koraput’s contribution to India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities and the operational readiness of the Armed Forces. It also underscores the Government’s vision of making India a designer, developer and manufacturer of defence systems, with indigenous aero-engine capability being a critical component of this effort.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and HAL CMD Ravi K will attend the event, among others.
