Piyush Goyal Holds Talks with German Firms to Boost Investment, Manufacturing in India

Berlin [Germany]: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held discussions with senior executives of three leading German companies — Fresenius Group, Bayer and Knauf Group — in Berlin to explore opportunities for expanding manufacturing, increasing investment and strengthening bilateral collaboration in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, sustainable construction materials and infrastructure.

In a series of posts on social media platform X, the Minister highlighted India’s growing healthcare sector, manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure development needs as key areas for enhanced cooperation with German companies.

During his meeting with Michael Sen, Chief Executive Officer of Fresenius Group, Goyal discussed opportunities to strengthen healthcare collaboration, focusing on India’s growing demand for quality and affordable medical solutions and its expanding manufacturing capabilities.

He also highlighted the potential for Fresenius to leverage India’s skilled workforce and production capabilities to cater to both domestic and international markets.

In a separate meeting, Goyal held discussions with Stefan Oelrich, President of the Pharmaceuticals Division at Bayer, on the company’s expansion plans in India and opportunities to deepen its engagement with the country’s healthcare sector through increased investment, innovation and collaboration.

The Minister also met Murat Akyildiz, Global General Partner at Knauf Group, to discuss the company’s manufacturing operations in India and explore avenues for further cooperation in sustainable construction materials and infrastructure development.

Goyal noted that these areas align with India’s ongoing urbanisation and economic transformation, which are creating opportunities for greater industrial collaboration and investment.
