Mumbai: Amid the ongoing loudspeaker controversy in Maharashtra, over 1500 mosques and 1300 temples have received permission to use loudspeakers, Maharashtra Police on Wednesday said.

Maharashtra Police also informed that they have taken preventive action against 2300 persons across the state. The police also issued CrPC section 149 notices against 7000 persons.

Amid the ongoing loudspeaker controversy, the Muslim religious leaders of Mumbai have taken a big decision, and there have been many places in Mumbai wherein Azan is played without loudspeakers. Police in Nasik informed the media that a total of 150 Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Party workers were arrested in the Nashik district of Maharashtra for creating “communal tension” in the district.

Police further clarified that “the arrests are part of Preventive actions undertaken by the state police to maintain a law and order situation amid MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s appeal to play Hanuman Chalisa on a loudspeaker outside mosques.”

Leaders of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Wednesday met Nationalist Congress Party supremo Shard Pawar. According to the MVA, the agenda of the meeting was to discuss issues related to employment, health, and agriculture of women in tribal areas.
