New Delhi: India’s oil meal exports fell by 21 percent in 2024-25, according to the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA).
In a statement, the edible oil industry body said the export in FY25 fell by 11 percent to 4,342,498 tonnes as compared to 4,885,437 tonnes in FY24.
This decline in exports was mainly due to a reduction in the export of rapeseed and castorseed meals.
In terms of value, the exports decreased 21 percent to Rs 12,171 crore in 2024-25 from Rs 15,368 crore in the preceding year, said B. V. Mehta, Executive Director of SEA.
Despite political disturbances, Bangladesh became the largest importer of Indian oil meals with imports of 742,000 tonnes, 17 percent percent higher than the previous year, followed by South Korea, and Thailand.
