New Delhi: Jailed Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski, the Russian group Memorial, and the Ukrainian organization Center for Civil Liberties will share this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.

Interestingly, Russia and Belarus are under sanctions from the West and its allies on the Ukrainian war issue.

Berit Reiss-Andersen, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, announced the 2022 winners in Oslo on Friday, the media reported.

This week of Nobel Prize announcements kicked off on Monday with the prestigious Prize in Medicine honoring a Swedish scientist who unlocked the secrets of Neanderthal DNA.

Three scientists jointly won the Nobel Prize in Physics on Tuesday for proving that tiny particles can keep a connection with each other even when separated.

The Prize for Chemistry went on Wednesday to three scientists who developed ways of connecting molecules that can design more targeted drugs.

French author Annie Ernaux won this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday.

They will announce the 2022 Nobel Prize for Economics on Monday, October 10, the organizers said.
