No Death reported in Mumbai Due to Corona on Sunday

Mumbai: The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai on Sunday informed that Mumbai reported zero coronavirus death in the last 24 hours, which happened for the first time since the pandemic struck the country in March 2020.

BMC’s municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal hailed the development and said “This is great news for all of us in Mumbai. As MC, MCGM, Mumbai, I salute Team MCGM for their spectacular performance. I also profusely ‘Thank’ Team Media for its unflinching support, and trust in Team MCGM. Let us all keep the mask on our face and let every citizen of Mumbai get vaccinated if some of us haven’t yet! I appeal to everyone to help us to keep Mumbai safe.

According to the Health Authority in Mumbai, around 97 percent of the eligible population in the city have received a single dose of the vaccine, and 55 percent are fully vaccinated now.

The Economic hub of the nation – Mumbai reported 367 new coronavirus cases on Sunday. Mumbai was affected extremely by the coronavirus infection in the first, and the second wave. At the height of the pandemic’s second wave, Mumbai saw an exponential rise in Covid cases and deaths, with over 11,000 infections being reported in a single day. The city had recorded the highest 11,163 cases on April 4, 2021, and most number of deaths at 90 on May 1 this year.

There are 5,030 active coronavirus cases in Mumbai at present. Its recovery rate is 97 percent, while the case doubling rate is 1,214 days. The overall growth rate of coronavirus cases from October 10 to 16 is 0.06 percent.

Mumbai’s caseload has now reached 750,808 and the death toll 16,180. A statement from the civic health department said that 518 patients recuperated during the day, pushing the recovery count to 727,084. A total of 28,697 tests were carried out, which took the overall test count to 10,957,392.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 1,715 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, taking the state’s infection tally to 6,591,697, while 29 deaths pushed the toll to 139,789, the health department said.
