NEW DELHI, Jan 20: The central government on Friday released the inside views of the new parliament building being constructed as part of the Central Vista Project under the union ministry of housing and urban affairs.

The new parliament building has a sizable hall, a library, a committee room, plenty of parking space and ultra-modern office space. Modern facilities were used to decorate the Constitution Hall.

In contrast to the existing parliament building’s circular design, the new one is triangular to make the best use of available space. It was constructed on a 65-square-meter plot of land. The new structure will include a big legislative chamber, a Lok Sabha Hall with a capacity of up to 888 seats and modelled after the peacock, the national bird, and a Rajya Sabha Hall with a capacity of up to 384 seats and modelled after the lotus, the national flower.

The project was made under Tata Project Limited as the Central Public Works Department’s (CPWD) contractor. The building has been designed by Ahmedabad-based HCP Design, and it is planned and managed by architect Bimal Patel.

When discussing about the new parliament building, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and cited, “If the old parliament house gave direction to post-independence India, the new building would become a witness to the creation of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

According to the ministry’s reports, the new building is expected to be completed by the end of January and may be ready to house the second half of the coming budget session.
