Nepal: PM Prachand recalls ambassadors from 11 countries, including India

New Delhi: Weeks after changing his alliance partners in government, Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachand” has decided to recall Kathmandu’s ambassadors to 11 countries, including India.
The Nepalese PM, whose Cabinet took this decision on Thursday, will attend the swearing-in ceremony of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for a third straight term, in New Delhi, on June 9.
According to the media reports, those his government recalled, apart from Dr. Shankar Sharma (India), include Sridhar Khatri (the USA), Gyan Chanda Acharya (the UK ), and those serving in North Korea, Qatar, Spain, Denmark, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Portugal.
This decision was taken three months after the Nepali Congress was replaced by the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) in the alliance government led by Prime Minister Prachanda.
However, Nepal’s ambassador to Beijing, Bishnua Pukar Shrestha, a Maoist leader, has not been recalled.
Most of the new appointees will now likely be from the CPM-UML, the largest party in the coalition government.
