Movie Review: Gehraiyaan as a Complex Saga of Love, Lies and Drama
Mumbai: The most anticipated Bollywood film, Gehraiyaan released today on Friday, February 11, 2022. The Amazon Prime Video original film is a contemporary romantic narrative that revolves around love, infidelity, and chemistry amongst urban young couples.
The multi-layered film revolves around a dangerous attraction between protagonists Alisha and Zain, portrayed by Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi, respectively. A young couple comprising Alisha (Deepika) and Karan (Dhairya Karwa), visit Alisha’s cousin Tia (Ananya Pandey) and her fiance, Zain, who arrived in India from Los Angeles.
Alisha and Zain are instantaneously drawn to each other and that leads to the dramatic situations between the two couples.
Gehraiyaan is directed by Shakun Batra, produced by Dharma Productions, Viacom18 studios, and Jouska films. The film is written by Batra, Ayesha Devitre, Sumit Roy, and Yash Sahai.
The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles. Though the pre-production began in march 2020, the project was postponed due to six months citing the covid-19 pandemic. The set was relocated to Goa.
Gehraiyaan was wrapped in August 2021 and the first teaser, confirming the title, launched on December 20, 2021.
