Meta to discontinue Podcast feature on Facebook
New Delhi: Meta decided to discontinue the Podcast feature from Facebook a year after introducing it to the social media application.
The company also decided to remove other audio options from the platform.
Meta confirmed the plan and said, “No new uploads are allowed on Facebook, starting immediately.” These changes ensure the complete removal of Facebook podcasts on June 03, 2022.
The social media giant will also remove shorter audio, Soundbites, in late May or early June.
The company emphasized closing the audio format files despite generating a good and positive response. Meta plans on focussing more on Instagram and pushing the metaverse.
Meta is moving away from audio to nail the augmented reality, virtual reality, and viral content spaces, thereby leaving little room for online podcasts.
