New Delhi: Legendary American comedian and actor Louie Anderson passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2020. His longtime publicist, Glenn Schwartz, revealed that Anderson died at a hospital in Las Vegas due to complications arising post-cancer treatment. He was 68 years old.

The actor won an Emmy award in 2016 for his performance as a mom to twin adult boys in the television series, Baskets. He portrayed the character of Christine Baskets and went on to win three consecutive awards for the show. He was a popular television personality and stand-up comic who featured in numerous comedy specials and made frequent appearances in late-night talk shows.

Anderson had hosted a television game show, Family Feud, from 1999 to 2002. He even voiced an animated version of himself in the popular cartoon show Life with Louis. He had created the cartoon series that first aired during Primetime back in 1994 before moving to Saturday morning shows from 1995-1998. He played a kid in the series. Anderson won two Daytime Emmy Awards for the show.

He made several guest appearances in various television series and movies, including the series Scrubs and Touched by Angel. He even featured in the 1988 film, Coming to America and its sequel Coming 2 America in 2021.
