India helps Nepal to inaugurate a new academic building
New Delhi: As part of its India@75: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, a New Delhi-assisted academic building in Nepal was inaugurated on Wednesday.
Prashant Kumar Sona, Second Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, and Karasang Lama, who heads the Sindhuli District Coordination Committee (DCC), jointly opened the academic building of the Sindhuli Community Technical Institute, a non-profit institution with its headquarters in the Sindhuli District of Nepal, officials said.
Under the India-Nepal Development Cooperation in Education Sector as a Community Development Project, they completed the project with an Indian grant funding of NRs.44.18 million. This is one of the 75 projects undertaken with Indian help in Nepal. They built a new infrastructure for the institute in Nepal, allowing students to pursue higher education.
They found the Institute in 2014 as a collaborative effort between Kamalamai Municipality, DCC Sindhuli, and the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
The academic institute, affiliated with Kathmandu University, has been offering engineering, agriculture, and health courses. Over 292 students attend the institute, with about 30% of them being female.
