Home Minister Amit Shah’s big statement on Kashmir, Northeast and Naxalism: ‘Three hotspots of internal security are now calm’

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the country has made remarkable progress in dealing with the three major internal security challenges — Kashmir, Northeast and Left Wing Extremism. Speaking on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day in New Delhi, he described these areas as peaceful now.

Three sensitive areas are now ready for development

The Union Home Minister said “In recent years, the country has faced many challenges. These included three major problems that we faced for decades and which were considered to be the most sensitive areas for our internal security: Kashmir, the Northeast and the entire region affected by Left Wing Extremism. Today, these three areas are quiet. There is a conducive environment for development and these regions are now ready to compete with the rest of the country in terms of development. ”

He further said that terrorism has been curbed to a great extent in Kashmir. After several agreements and thousands of people laying down their arms, the entire North East is moving towards peace. The police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel have achieved great success in almost eliminating the Naxal problem that has spread to many states for five decades. Amit Shah especially praised the CAPF and CoBRA battalions and congratulated them for their contribution against Naxalism.

Gratitude to CAPF personnel

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed special gratitude to the CAPF personnel deployed on the borders and across the country. “I would like to specially thank all the CAPF personnel deployed at the borders and ensuring security within the country. They stay away from their homes and remain vigilant at every opportunity — be it elections, festivals, protests or border security. They strengthen the internal security of the country. Shah stressed that the role of CAPFs is indispensable in safeguarding democracy and ensuring the smooth running of democratic processes.

Motorcycle rally flags off

On this occasion, the Union Home Minister flagged off a motorcycle rally from the national capital. CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh informed him about the rally. The ‘Shaheed Pukt Rakshak Toli’ also paid homage to the martyrs.

Target of drug-free India by 2029

Speaking on the drug problem, Amit Shah made a big announcement. He informed that the Union Home Ministry has decided to conduct a joint campaign against narcotics in the next three and a half years — 2027, 2028 and 2029 including the remaining time of 2026. The goal is to make the country drug-free by 31st December 2029.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “This is a very important goal for us, which is more important than tackling the three hotspots. The drug menace is hollowing out our future generations, putting unnecessary burden on the economy and providing financial support to organizations involved in anti-national activities. ”

He appealed to the police forces across the country to work diligently to achieve the goal of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ and follow the roadmap set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
