Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) 2022: Film RRR gets nominated for Best Picture
New Delhi: The Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) revealed full list of the 5th Annual Hollywood Critics Association Mid-season awards.
Talking about revealing the list, HCA Founder, Scott Menzel, said, “2022 was the first year since 2019 where theaters saw a true return to normal. While the Sundance Film Festival remained virtual in 2022, other festivals, including SXSW and Cannes, returned to their in-person celebrations, which as a result, attracted movie lovers from all over the world to return to film festivals.”
Telugu film industry Director SS. Rajamouli’s latest film RRR has been nominated under the Best Picture category in the Hollywood critics Association Best movies 2022 nominees list. RRR is the only Indian film to be nominated in the Mid Season awards.
The film will compete with Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman for the main honour.
Other films nominated in the Best Picture category include Cha Cha Real Smooth, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Northman, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Marcel The Shell with Shoes On, and Turning Red.
RRR garnered appreciation from worldwide audiences, especially after its Netflix premiere. The film was even re-released in several theatres of the United States of America.
The Telugu blockbuster is a fictional story inspired by Telugu freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem against the backdrop of Indian national struggle during the year 1921. RRR stars NTR Junior, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles.
