Mumbai: The government of Haryana issued an order on Monday, May 02, 2022, for revising the school timings for all public and private schools owing to severe heatwave conditions prevailing in the state.

Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary of School Education, Dr. Mahavir Singh, issued the official order regarding the school timings.

According to the notice, all the schools will function from 07:00 am to 12:00 pm from Wednesday, May 04, 2022, onwards. The order will apply to all classes from grade 01 to grade 12.

“Due to intense heatwave conditions prevalent throughout the State of Haryana, it has been decided that the timings of all schools will be changed to 7 am to 12 noon for all classes with effect from May 04, 2022,” the official release read.

As per recent reports, Haryana has become the latest Indian state to either revise school timings or shut down schools due to intense heatwave conditions on Monday.

Several states, including Bihar, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, had previously issued a similar advisory due to the heatwave.

While educational institutions in Odisha suspended classes till Monday, May 02, 2022, schools in West Bengal and Punjab ordered closure from Monday, and the Bihar government ordered schools to finish classes by 10:45 am.
