New Delhi: A delegation of representatives from G-20 countries traveling across India visited the Somnath Temple in Gujarat on Thursday and offered worship to Lord Shiva seeking peace in the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads the Somnath Trust, which manages one of the 12 Jyotirlingas spread across the country.
India is the current chair of the world’s 20 largest economies, holding dozens of programs in different cities.
Delegations from diverse countries having different cultures and religions, who visited the Somnath Temple, offered worship for world peace, said a Trust statement on Friday.
The delegations included scientists, thinkers, and official delegations from several member countries of the G-20, including the US, the UK, Spain, and Indonesia, the largest Muslim nation, which handed over the baton of G-20 to India last year.
Special arrangements were made by the Temple for the visiting delegates. They were apprised of the history of the Temple’s destruction and reconstruction.
The visiting delegates participated in the religious rituals, including laghu yajna, and viewed the light-and-sound show and a short film.
