New Delhi, May 22: Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has left the English football club by mutual consent after less than a year at the club, the media reported on Wednesday.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the best in his future coaching career.” Sporting Directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said.
Mauricio,52, joined Chelsea as a head coach on July 1, 2023, signing a two-year contract. The Argentine spent one season as coach at Chelsea FC but after a bad season in the English Premier League and failing to qualify Chelsea to the UEFA Champions League, the club chose to part ways with him.
In just five years, Mauricio was Chelsea’s sixth permanent coach, following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, and Bruno Saltor.
According to the media reports, Chelsea will choose Mauricio’s s successor from Kieran McKenna, Ruben Amorim and Vincent Kompany.
