Football: Bayer Leverkusen wins the first Bundesliga title after 120 years
New Delhi, April 15: German football club Bayer Leverkusen has won their first Bundesliga title in 120 years after running 29 unbeaten games, the media reported.
The Bayer Leverkusen FC achieved this milestone on Sunday, after defeating Werder Bremen FC 5-0 goals at Bay Arena Stadium in Leverkusen, Germany.
“This is a great moment with a top team and great club. The team has won it for the first time in Leverkusen’s history. It’s an honor to work with this club,” Bayer coach Xabi Alonso said.
Bayer Leverkusen made history by becoming the first team since Borussia Dortmund in 2011-12 to beat Bayern Munich FC to a Bundesliga title.
Currently, Bayer Leverkusen still has a chance to win more trophies as they reach the German Cup final, and the UEFA Europa League quarter-final.
