New Delhi: A Farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait on Thursday warned the central government and said that “they will take the protests to Kolkata, where the election fever may provide more fodder for the agitation.”

According to a media report – The farmer protests are far from over, some farmers groups are planning a bigger congregation outside the borders of the national capital.”

Assembly election in West Bengal is not so far and Tikait’s announcement on rally in West Bengal could be the new challenge for the BJP.

TMC and BJP are giving tough fights to each other before the assembly election in West Bengal.

Tikait counter the Central Government on petrol price hike and said that “Crops prices have not increased, but fuel prices have gone up. If the Centre ruins the situation, we will take our tractors to West Bengal as well. Farmers have not been getting minimum support prices (MSP) there also.”

Tikait further added that “The Centre should not be under any misconception that farmers will go back for crop harvesting. If they insisted then we will burn our crops. They should not think that protest will end in two months. We will harvest as well as protest.”

On the farmers protest – the central government said that “it is still willing to hold a dialogue with the farmers in order to amend the laws that have triggered massive protests.”
