Kanpur: BSP president Mayawati attacked Akhilesh Yadav and his Samajwadi Party, she said, “people of UP have rejected SP even before voting as voting for SP means Gunda raj, mafia raj. Muslims are not happy with Samajwadi Party, won’t vote for Akhilesh Yadav’s party.”

Mayawati made the remarks after casting her vote at a polling booth in Lucknow in the fourth phase of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Interestingly, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati had joined hands for the 2019 Lok Sabha election in the politically crucial state.

In the 2017 Assembly polls, the BSP won only 19 seats, its lowest tally since 1991, when the party bagged 12 seats. The SP had bagged 47 seats, its lowest tally since the party’s inception in 1992. The SP’s lowest score so far was 97 seats in 2007.

However, Voting for the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 began on Wednesday (February 23). Voting is underway in a total of 59 constituencies spread across nine districts in the fourth phase of UP Election 2022.

BSP leader Satish Chandra Misra casts his vote at the Montessori school polling booth in Lucknow.

“Today UP is crime & terrorism free. Everyone feels safe. People are getting jobs. We have made UP economy no 2 and will also make it No 1 and people are voting for that. We are forming the govt,” said UP minister Mohsin Raza after casting his vote in Lucknow.
