When a young Vatsal Gupta joined Adani Vidya Mandir Ahmedabad (AVMA) in 2010, little did he know that the institution would change his life forever. Vatsal not only cracked the Common Admission Test (CAT) examination with an impressive 99.51 percentile but also bagged a seat at Indian Institute of Management (IIM)- Rohtak where he will be pursuing Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM).

“I made it to six IIMs, and it wasn’t a cakewalk. IIM- Rohtak stood out as the best for me, and I’m looking forward to an exciting journey. The guidance and support I got from my teachers at AVMA gave me the courage to aim higher and stay focused. My school will always be special to me,” Vatsal said.

His family lives at Nikol in Ahmedabad. Vatsal’s mother Preeti is a teacher. His father Jayesh works in diamond firm and his younger sister Venisha is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in commerce.

In retrospect, Vatsal struggled with mathematics in his formative years. Once, he even could not secure pass marks in the subject at AVMA. “I thought my teacher would scold me. But instead, my mathematics teacher [Sabita Madam] sat me down and told me ‘We will work on this together’. She meant it and for months, she helped me with the subject during lunch breaks,” said Vatsal, who loves reading books and wants to learn foreign languages such as French. While in school, science always interested him.

“I passed out from AVMA in 2020. I made a lot of friends there and my teachers supported me at every step,” he reminisced. “My school shaped my values and attitude towards life. Now, pursuing an MBA [Master’s in Business Administration] from IIM-Rohtak is a big step forward. I believe it will open a world of opportunities — both in terms of knowledge and career,” Vatsal said. He hastened to add that the exposure and peer learning at the institution will help him become a confident and responsible individual.

“I feel, combining both — my roots from AVM and wings from IIM — will help me chart out a path, where I can not only achieve personal success but also contribute meaningfully to the community. Maybe even at the Adani Group someday,” he said.

Vatsal’s parents are ecstatic. They are proud and elated for the opportunity that he has got. Recalling the support and guidance that their child got growing up, they said AVMA is not just his school but a blessing that helped transform his life.

With the highest National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) score it has secured in the Right to Education (RTE) category coupled with 100 cent pass results in Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) this year, AVMA is continuously striving to support students from underprivileged backgrounds in their bid to build a better future. Students are being provided quality education for free along with training and guidance that can prepare them for bumpy rides in life ahead.
