NEW DELHI, June 17: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Tuesday that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of which crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12 killing 274 people, has no safety concerns and was compliant with safety standards.

It said the recent inspection of Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet after the Ahmedabad plane crash had not revealed any significant safety issues, but has advised Air India to strengthen internal coordination.

Air India’s Dreamliner aircrafts came under intense scrutiny from aviation authorities after flight AI 171, bound for London, crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 pm on June 12, killing 241 of the 242 people on board besides at least 33 others on the ground.

The aviation watchdog said the inspections found both the aircraft and their maintenance systems to be in compliance with current aviation safety standards, offering reassurance to the intending fliers amid heightened scrutiny following the Ahmedabad crash.
