Cyclone Arnab disrupts Andhra Pradesh, effects reach Telangana

Telangana: As Cyclone Arnab causes severe disruption across Andhra Pradesh, its adverse effects are increasingly being felt across neighboring Telangana. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for several border districts, prompting local administrations to initiate emergency protocols and preventive measures.
An Orange Alert has been sounded for Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nalgonda, and Suryapet districts, where heavy downpours are anticipated. Meanwhile, a Yellow Alert has been issued for Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda. In response to the worsening weather conditions, Bhadradri Kothagudem District Collector Ankit declared a one-day holiday for all schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers to ensure student safety. Emergency control rooms have also been activated, and a first warning level was issued as water levels rose at the Kinnerasani reservoir.
The severe weather has disrupted regional travel and aviation services. Precautionary measures led to the cancellation of 12 flights operating from Shamshabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad to destinations including Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, and Visakhapatnam. Airport officials confirmed that flight operations will resume once weather conditions stabilize.
