Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launches trial run of ‘NaMo Yamuna Cruise Safari’, service will start before Chhath Puja

New Delhi [India]: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched the trial run of the ‘NaMo Yamuna Cruise Safari’ and inspected the six-km-long route between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur to take stock of the preparations for the proposed service.

CM Gupta wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “The trial run of NaMo Yamuna Cruise Safari has started. Today, the six-km long route from Sonia Vihar to Jagatpur was inspected and preparations were taken into consideration. Instructions have been given to the officials to pay special attention to cleanliness, security and facilities of the passengers. ”

“It is our endeavour to start this service before the Chhath festival. The people of Delhi will be able to visit Maa Yamuna with their families, enjoy cruise rides and get a new place to picnic in the capital itself. This will boost tourism in Delhi, increase local business and create new employment opportunities. Cabinet colleague Kapil Mishra and concerned officials were also present on the occasion. ”

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra said that the trial run has started and the boat has been lowered into the river. The Chief Minister inspected the project in the presence of senior officials. The project is being implemented by the Central Government, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi Government and Delhi Tourism Department.

“This is a great project, an example of how working together, overcoming political differences, can lead to great results,” he said. Each cruise ride will be around 30 minutes, giving tourists a chance to experience the Yamuna through the water. ”

The proposed attractions along the river include a musical fountain depicting the story of ‘Maa Yamuna’, facilities for water sports, a food park and a special zone for children.

He also said that the project has been developed as per the standards set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the applicable environmental rules.

The cruise will run between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur, covering a distance of about four to six kilometres. The journey is expected to give locals and tourists a new perspective on how to experience the riverfront of the national capital.

According to officials, tickets for this service will be available online on the website of Delhi Tourism. The initiative aims to create a new entertainment hub in the national capital. At the same time, it aims to promote tourism, create employment opportunities, and encourage families to move around the banks of the Yamuna River. Delhi’s first Yamuna River Cruise Service is expected to formally launch in the coming days after the completion of the trial run.
